The New Goa Manohar International Airport at Mopa in north Goa has begun commercial operations from January 5, with the first flight operated by IndiGo which landed at 9am. The new airport will be developed in stages, initially to service about 4.4 million passengers a year and will be scaled up as traffic grows. It will be a full-service airport catering to domestic and international passengers, besides offering freight services.
