When she’s young, they explain to her that cats may look at her differently not only because she is a ShadowClan cat, a clan that has a bad reputation for having bad leaders, but because she is a descendant of the tyrannical Tigerstar. This mindset is unjust as it says nothing about who she truly is beyond the surface level information of what clan she lives in and about her blood heritage. Dawnpelt and Crowfrost tell young Sleekkit to simply smile through it as those who look those comments in the eye and refuse to back down are the strongest in their eyes. As she grows throughout her apprenticeship and meets Darktail along the way, the rogue leader twists the hopeful meaning of her parents’ words into commands of violence, calling for her to stand with him and the rest of his group in overthrowing Rowanstar to take back what land and rights have been stolen from the rogues. This change in understanding provokes her to abandon them and ShadowClan to instead join who she believes to be her real family; Darktail’s group, who are ironically known as “The Kin''. Influenced by his manipulative charm, she goes on to carry out his plans through killing those who stood in their way, where she advocated for those standing with them to do the same. From there she neglects the cries of her blood family, even in death, as the events of A Vision of Shadows occur with Onestar Vs Darktail and Sleekwhisker’s eventual success in killing Rowanstar. The MAP ends with her fulfilling her purpose as Darktail had set her out to do instead of following the better life that was laid out by her parents when she was a kit, much to the sadness of those who had tried helping her but to no avail.
