There are two ways to initiate an SOS message on a DeLorme inReach SE and Explorer: through the menu system, or with the manual SOS button. This button can be locked out, using the lock switch, which has been reported to fail in some units. The more recent inReach SE+ and Explorer+, a product of Garmin, are slightly different.
