BIG ROG's video: Exploring Light House Beach - Point Reyes National Seashore

On this day (December 2018), I explored a Point Reyes National Seashore California Lighthouse and South Beach. South Beach is the southern access to Point Reyes Beach nicknamed “The Great Beach.” This vast area of shoreline is excellent walk in either direction for miles. Just a heads up, that the highest tides the beach can be all wet in some places. From what I read, the beach south of the South Beach parking lot is closed for elephant seal mating season (December through April). This exposed west side of the peninsula has dangerous swimming conditions with strong rip currents, cold water temps, and sneaker waves. If you want a milder surf head to nearby Drakes Beach which is protected by the point. The South Beach parking lot is located just off Sir Francis Drake Boulevard on the way to the Point Reyes Lighthouse. Be prepared for a cool foggy weather on any trip to Point Reyes. Along the way, there is an abandon house/property that has a creepy feel to it. This was a nice find because I was not expecting to find something of this nature. I’m assuming it’s privately owned, but who knows. Last year, in the summer of 2018, Point Reyes National Seashore undertook a large restoration project on the historic Point Reyes Lighthouse. During this restoration, all areas beyond west of Point Reyes Lighthouse's visitors' parking lot, visitor center, the lighthouse and the stairs leading down to the lighthouse; are closed. The contractor have notified the park that the restoration project will not be completed until early summer 2019, but only time will tell.
