Missouri Ozark Trail from Taum Sauk Mountain to Johnson Shut-ins Scour Trail Day 1 of 2 Backpacking Trip. Amie Jake and I decided to backpack and hike the Ozark Trail for 2 days. We finally had some good weather line up so we had to take advantage of it. The hike from Taum Sauk to the Scour Trail at Johnson Shut-ins is about 14 miles long. Hearing the dogs attacking the hog or wild boar was crazy. We had a beautiful sunset and campsite at mile 7. We hiked it over Saturday and Sunday. We got a late start Saturday and an early start on Sunday. We got done early enough and got back home in time to watch the Big Game. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
