BigBassDreams's video: Catch Release These Not Dinks
@Catch & Release These. Not Dinks
First off, im encouraged and proud that there has been so much good discussion and feedback regarding this topic of killing bass to do our part as anglers to have an effect on our public lakes.
Some people are getting the message twisted. I never said kill all the bass. People are always looking for an easy answer for complex problems. We dove into the topic in detail for almost 3 hours on the @bigbassdreams YouTube channel for those that aren't lazy and want to begin to question something that has been shoved down our throats since the 90's. That 100% Catch and Release is always the correct course of action to ensure healthy fisheries, especially trophy fisheries. It's not.
This is especially prevalent as a problem in Southern California, specifically from Ventura to the Inland Empire. Largemouth. No spots. Very little smallmouth presence. Want more information?
Do the research. It's actually quite fascinating. There's plenty at your fingertips through this magical search engine called Google. I'll be having discussions, not arguments with many people over the topic of harvest. What's the whole point of it all? To make us all think about bass fishing beyond the simple answers.
Do not kill giant bass. A giant to me may not be the same to you. What is that threshhold? For me, it's going to be the 7lb or 22" mark SPECIFICALLY in SoCal. After you've thought about it and IF you decide to harvest fish, don't ever feel bad or give anybody crap about killing 3lb bass or smaller. Then maybe, we can help along our trophy bass fisheries to move closer to what they used to be instead of whining about problems without taking any real action. Ain't nobody got time for that.
