05/21-23/2023 Day 2 to Camiguin We were told that we could drive the whole Camiguin Island in 2-3 hours, btw. The van driver was supposed to take us to our accommodation, we were the last ones to be dropped off since it was further down from Mambajao, which he thought is the place where we were staying. He asked us if we were planning to rent a motorbike on the island, we said yes and he recommended his cousin's motorbike. So before we went any further, we went back, rented the motorbike, then we just drove ourselves to the inn with our heavy backpacks haha! So it wasn't good especially when we paid for them to take us to where we were supposed to be staying. And the rent of the motorbike was more expensive than others??? That's what we read after. But anyway, it was done. As soon as we arrived at the inn, we fixed our things and washed our faces and noticed that the sink seemed clogged, the water was draining very slow. I asked the inn's staff, they checked on it and called a plumber. We left to visit The Walkway in the Old Volcano but it was too late. The lady in the store suggested we come back the next day because it would be dark soon. So we went to the Old church ruins and the sunken cemetery. We didn't realize that a lot of food shops close early on the island, so we went to eat at one shop that was open that was on our way back to the inn. Northern Lights Restaurant 04:58 The food looked good BUT it was too salty for us, . We also bought cup noodles and eggs at a sari-sari store for our breakfast the next day. We had a water dispenser inside the room. When we got back at the inn, the staff said the plumber wasn't available, so they just temporarily put a bucket under the sink. Day 3 Our island day trip, no not White island but Mantigue island. Why? Because we wanted the shade hahaha! We wanted to sit or lay somewhere with shade and more people visit the White Island. We left before 6:30 am, while on the road everything was fine UNTIL the back tire of the scooter exploded. We stopped and checked, the tire had a big tear and we immediately called the owner of the scooter and asked for help. He said we were really far from him so he suggested we drive slowly down the road and ask around for the nearest vulcanizing shop. We were able to find one and they said it couldn't be vulcanized anymore, the wheel needed replacement. So I called the owner again and let them talk. He then sent us a tricab rescue to take us to where we were going and we left the scooter at the shop. We were advised by the shop owners that we should not be paying for the wheel since it wasn't our fault. So island trip next, we looked for a spot where we could stay that wasn't as hot and sunny. But before that we wanted to walk around the island because they said you can go around the whole island in 20-30 minutes. The water was really clear, calm and nice. Although we are still not saltwater people haha, still fresh water types. We found a spot where we hung out with very little people around but still near the designated places to stay. What we didn't like much was there were lots on insects biting our legs if we sat in the shore, those tiny bites were really painful so we went in the water. But they were still biting because we were in the shallow parts of the water. After soaking in the water, we transferred to more sandy shores and more trees and where most of the people stay. We really didn't want to soak in the water anymore. Maximum stay on the island is 3 hours and we were there 2.5 hours? We were over it haha. We went back to the main island and picked up the scooter that was already fixed. We were supposed to go to Katunggan park but couldn't find the entrance even if we followed google maps. So we just went on and tried driving up the island to Mambajao to have lunch, we were looking for Surol Chicken which was a dish from Camiguin but the restaurants say they're out of native chicken, so no luck. We went to eat at Checkpoint Restaurant 14:08 Time check 1 PM, contemplating whether we should try the Walkway, but we chose to go back to the inn because it was so damn hot haha! We arrived at the inn around 2 PM, washed up and slept before going out for dinner. Dinner was at the Beehive Driftwood Cafe. We really had limited choices for food near our location (Catarman). Night of Day 3-4 Loud thunder, bright lightning and heavy rain. Ely was worried of getting stranded. Day 4 To cut the story short, we were wet in the rain because we had to return the scooter in Mambajao. Ely had a raincoat c/o my tita and for me, we bought a big plastic garbage bag in a store in the area where the rain caught us. The lady in the store lent me a scissors to cut a neckhole. So I was a big upside down garbage bag at the back of the scooter hahahahah! We needed to lessen the wet clothes, and bags going back to CDO.
