Cashew Paul's video: Schutzenfest 2023 - America s OLDEST German Fest Crowns a NEW King

Join me as I return to Schutzenfest Cincinnati (America's OLDEST German Fest)! Schützenfest, or the Marksmen’s Fest, is a traditional German festival dating back to medieval times. It commemorates a marksman saving a young child’s life from an eagle attack. Schutzenfest Cincinnati pays homage by hosting a shooting contest each year where members shoot at a hand-carved eagle replica. The winning marksman is crowned King or “Schützenkönig” for the year and is paraded throughout the festival. This fun festival coincides with Father's Day each year and, has been hosted by the Cincinnati Kolping Society since 1866. It turned out to be a well attended, family friendly event which featured traditional German food, beer (or bier) and garb!
