Our skin should glow and make us feel confident. This is a very natural expectation. Tips On How To Get Clear Skin? Tip 1: Protect our skin from Internal & External damaging factors. Our skin is damaged by a lot of external and internal factors which lead to dullness and pigmentation. External factors like sun exposure, pollution, and dust lead to a lot of damage. Internal factors like stress, fast foods, alcohol, and smoke and deficient water intake also cause a lot of damage to the skin. Tip 2: Have proper balanced diet Foods like green leafy vegetables, eggs, fruits like oranges, sweet lemons, pomegranates, berries - strawberries, fish, dry fruits, carrots, tomatoes etc. are something that you should definitely have every day in your diet. They have a lot of vitamins, minerals, proteins & fats which help in improving the quality of your skin. Tip 3: Have A Good Sleep A good 6-8 hours of sleep per day is very important. Our skin and body need physical rest in order to recover from the daily routine. If you don't have proper sleep even for a single night, you will notice the tiredness on your face and skin immediately the next day. Such is the importance of a good night’s sleep. Tip 4: Exercise Regularly Exercising every day for even just half an hour releases endorphins in our body. Endorphins are also known as happy hormones. They reduce stress in our body and give us healthy glowing skin for the whole day. Tip 4: Follow Skin Care Routine A proper skincare routine is often misunderstood as a complex and expensive routine. This is very wrong. A simple skincare routine that takes care of the basic principles is more than enough. Simple and Effective Skin Care Routine to Follow The basic steps in a good skincare routine should include 4 steps - Cleanse - Cleansing means washing your skin 2-3 times a day with a gentle cleanser. Avoid using body soap - which can be too harsh for your face skin. If you have oily skin, you can use a salicylic acid-based cleanser. This will help keep your oil levels in control. Moisturise - After washing your face, moisturizing your skin to lock in the moisture is also very important. If you have dry skin, moisturizing with a cream-based moisturizer is helpful. If you have oily skin, moisturizing with a water-based moisturizer will do. It is important to moisturize even oily skin. Many times due to lack of moisture in our skin, the skin produces excess oil as a compensatory mechanism. Thus our skin gets more oily. To prevent this, using a moisturizer on oily skin is important. Protect - Sun damage is one of the most common causes of skin damage in Indian skin. It leads to tanning and uneven patchy pigmentation on our faces. To avoid this, it is very important to use sunscreen on our skin from time to time. Ideally, the sunscreen should have both UVA & UVB rays protection. A SPF of 50 and PA 3+ factor should be preferred. Nowadays, due to excessive use of fluorescent lights and computer screens, it is also advised that your sunscreen should have visible and infrared light protection too. Using adequate quantities of sunscreen is also equally important. We have created a video on sunscreen which is linked here Repair - The two most common problems we face are pigmentation and acne. Using proper products which will help us correct these problems is important. Products containing salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, niacinamide, retinoids etc. help in controlling acne. Products containing depigmenting agents like kojic acid, azelaic acid, glycolic acid help in reducing tanning and pigmentation on our face.
