Un año complicado para la música pop, que se veía amenazado por la repentina llegada de la corriente tropical que había traído la lambada. Esto se refleja en un ranking que por primera vez solo contaba con 1 tema no español. El publico habia cambiado y Panamericana quiso seguir esa ruta musical. Perdio oyentes y gano otros, la juventud era mas importante, y las diversas tendencias también tenían que ser escuchadas, el rap en español aparecía, al igual que el pop juvenil y los nuevos talentos!!!!
