Erik Dalton's video: Homolateral Movement Patterns

@Homolateral Movement Patterns
Clients with Homolateral Movement Patterns: Infants move homolaterally until they begin to crawl. Cross-crawling, a contralateral movement pattern, properly organizes a baby’s central nervous system because it stimulates the corpus callosum facilitating communication between the hemispheres of the brain. Some parents encourage their children to move from crawling to walking before a strong neurological bridge has formed. As a result, smooth cross-patterned movement may never fully develop. Traumatic injuries, chronic bracing, prolonged inactivity, and lumbar fusion surgeries can cause the brain to revert back to a homolateral movement pattern leading to a range of compensatory muscle imbalances, poor balance, and a lack of coordination. Learn Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques to assess and treat clients with homolateral movement patterns. Sharpen cross-patterned movements and reeducate the central nervous system.
