EugenePoliceDept's video: Chief Chris Skinner - New Guardian Trailers to Help Provide Enhanced Security

Today, Eugene Police will be rolling out the three new Guardian Trailers in several areas around town. These trailer-mounted security cams will mainly help deter crime through a visible, well-marked presence. Eugene Police will place the trailers in areas where there have been complaints or issues, as well as locations determined through data collection. Officers will be able to access the cams through a computer or mobile device, although there are no plans to do live-monitoring initially. Should a crime occur, EPD will have the ability to obtain footage for use in identifying and apprehending suspects. Each trailer is equipped with three high-definition cameras with pan and tilt, plus zoom capability. The cams can be accessed remotely and controlled through a computer or mobile device. They have infra-red nighttime capabilities and are powered redundantly with battery, generator, and solar capability. EPD purchased three Guardian mobile pro systems, including Falcon 3100 and Commander 3400 models. Cost for the three units was $152,000 total (including delivery and graphics), paid for through a portion of one-time funding set aside by the City. The vendor will be providing training to Eugene Police staff next week. The Guardian Trailers will have their debut with placement at 8th and Oak, Broadway/Olive, and Broadway/Willamette.
