FOX NASHVILLE's video: Sending COVID-19 vaccines to small clinics could save lives nonprofit CEO says

@Sending COVID-19 vaccines to small clinics could save lives, nonprofit CEO says
17 million people across the country have received at least one of the COVID-19 vaccines, but in Nashville, community health centers worry they are falling behind. Neighborhood Health, a nonprofit, said there is a disparity between different groups, and that black and brown communities aren’t getting the vaccine as often as they should. Brian Haile is the CEO of Neighborhood Health. He said his clinics haven’t received vaccines yet, but he is begging the Tennessee Health Department for some. “These neighborhoods that we serve are disproportionately affected by the pandemic, and they need to be the first to get the vaccine, not the last,” Haile said. Right now, he said, the vaccines are being focused on the large hospitals, which are focusing the vaccines on their existing patient base. A base that historically, Haile said, doesn’t include communities of color or underserved areas. FOX 17 News reached out to area hospitals about their policy to serve their existing patients first. No comment yet.
