This app will serve as an awareness and outreach medium under the standards and labeling program of Govt. of India for efficient appliances. The app is developed to enable consumers to compare products based on energy efficiency and monetary cost savings from labeled appliances vs the baseline product. It will help consumers make better informed decisions when shopping for appliances. It will increase use of the India Star Label to guide consumers’ appliance purchasing decisions. The app will enable consumers to verify the accuracy of the India Star Labels on products in stores. It demonstrates an innovative approach to verifying compliance with labeling requirements. Users can provide feedback on the products as well as on the app. It sets performance standards for appliances and designs labeling scheme for the same. The star rating of various appliances like AC, Refrigerators, Fans, Pumps, Water Heaters, etc is part of this mandate that they have. They develop energy efficiency code for buildings and Industries. They certify Energy Managers and Energy Auditors who can perform energy audits. They develop norms for energy consumption. As part of their promotional activities they do: Create promotional programs for energy efficiency, star-rating and other awareness programs. Arrange and organize trainings for people who can do energy efficiency projects. Develop testing and certification procedures and promote testing facilities.
