InterMusic Australia was an internet startup in 1995 and lasted approximately 18 months. It was founded by John Phillips and Peter Bancroft. Peter was working in the IT area with ideas on how to harness the power of the Net. John had just released his first solo album Made in a Frame and was looking for alternative ways to promote, distribute and sell the album. InterMusic was the first Australian internet startup in Australia to specifically service the Music Industry, particularly independent Australian musicians. It received much coverage in the press with feature articles written by The Age and The Australian. It's vision and promise of things to come was revolutionary which is now par for the course. THE ARTIST AND THE INTERNET was one of two informative promo videos made by John that debuted at Melbourne University at a major Ausmusic Seminar attended by musicians and industry personnel.
