2020-2021 The second half of the FIDE Candidates Tournament takes place April 19-28, 2021 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Eight players fight for the chance to qualify for the world championship and play GM Magnus Carlsen in November of this year in Dubai. The prize money is 500,000 euros. The tournament was interrupted halfway in March 2020. The time control is 100 minutes for the first 40 moves, 50 minutes for the next 20 moves and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game; plus a 30-second increment per move starting from move 1.
