The orchestration is very elaborate and this version features a set of lyrics close to Leander's version. This movie starring Zarah Leander, Marika Rökk, Hans Stüwe and Leo Slezak is a highly romanticised biopic of Russian composer Tchaikowsky. To its credit the movie does not claim to be an exact biography. In the opening credits it is mentioned that the story is fabricated. The movie owes its existence to Tchaikowsky's music and as such is a well crafted dark melodrama in which Leander suffers beautifully. A much smaller part is played by UFA studio's other popular star : Marika Rökk - who is featured as a dancer (Apart from 2 brief scenes there is no screen time between Leander and Rökk). Like Schuricke, Eric Helgar was a very popular singer who also appeared in movies.
