Till the tea break, Root is present at the crease after scoring 132 off 237 balls with the help of 12 fours and Moeen Ali scoring 20 runs off 31 balls with the help of four fours. For India, Mohammad Siraj has got three wickets and Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma have got one wicket each.
England led the innings at 119 for three this morning with Root taking 48 and Jonny Bairstow leading by six runs. England added 97 runs in the first session without losing a wicket.
Both the batsmen did exceptionally well in the first session. The first session was entirely in England's name and the Indian bowlers failed to break this partnership. However, after the lunch break, Bairstow could not carry on his innings for long and was dismissed for 57 runs in 107 balls with the help of seven fours.
Shortly after this, wicketkeeper batsman Jos Buttler was bowled by Ishant and sent to the pavilion. Butler scored 23 runs in 42 balls with the help of four fours.
