The battle of Gettysburg was fought in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania July 1st, 2nd and 3rd of 1863. This battle known as the American Civil War was between the Union and Confederate soldiers. On the 1st day of battle which had conflicts at McPherson's Ridge, Oak Hill, Oak Ridge, Seminary Ridge, Barlow's Knoll and in and around Gettysburg consisted of around 50,000 soldiers of which approximately 15,500 were captured, missing or dead. The 2nd day of battle is known as the 10th deadliest battle of the Civil War. On this day approximately 20,000 soldiers were killed, captured, wounded, or missing. The 3rd day of battle at Cemetery Ridge consisted of approximately 12,500 soldiers of which nearly half were killed or wounded.
