But you can easily create the same Dal Tadka at home too. The trick to a good dal tadka is the tadka itself which is rich in well fried onion, ginger, garlic and tomatoes. The Jeera Rice too gets a different taste and texture because it is drained rice with a tadka over it again. Jeera rice is the perfect accompaniment to Dal Tadka. Thank you for watching! 💫 And don’t forget to subscribe here: https://goo.gl/mQwVjN **************************************************************************** Recipe : Dhaba Style Dal Tadka & Jeera Rice Preparation Time: 30 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Serves: 3-4 Ingredients: 1 cup Toor (arhar) Dal ¼ cup Red Masoor Dal ½ tsp Turmeric Powder 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp chopped green Chilies 1 tsp chopped Ginger 2 tsp Red Chili Powder ½ cup chopped Onions 1 tbsp chopped Garlic 1 tbsp chopped Ginger 1 tsp chopped Green Chilies 4 tbsp Desi Ghee 1 tsp Cumin Seeds ½ cup chopped Tomatoes 2 Dry Red Chilies For the Rice: 1 ½ cup basmati Rice 1 tsp cumin seeds 2 tbsp Ghee 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves Salt to taste 1 tsp Oil 2 tbsp Ghee Method: Pressure cook the washed dals for 3 whistles with 3 cups water, 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp red chili powder, 1 tsp chopped ginger, 2 tsp chopped green chilies. The Dals should be well cooked. Heat 3 tbsp ghee in a pan. add 1 tsp cumin seeds. As the seeds splutter, add the chopped ginger, 1 tsp garlic and chilies. Sauté till fragrant and lightly colored. Add chopped onions and cook till the onion is lightly golden. Add the red chili powder, mix well and then add the chopped tomatoes. Cook till the tomatoes are mushy. Add the cooked dal to the pan and stir well. Cook for 2-3 minutes and remove to a serving bowl. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan, add ½ tsp cumin seeds, broken red chilies, garlic and cook till the garlic is lightly colored. Add 1.2 tsp red chili powder and pour over the dal. Serve. For the Rice: Wash and soak the dal for 30 minutes. Boil 5 cups of water. Add 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp oil and the drained rice. Cook till the rice is just done- al dante. Drain and allow the rice to rest for 10-15 minutes. Heat ghee in a pan. Add the cumin seeds and allow to splutter. Add the cooked rice and toss well. Add chopped coriander, mix well and remove from heat. Serve with dal tadka.
