Nam Yang Kung Fu Retreat's video: Chinese Master Tan Soh Tin Shuang Yang White Crane Internal Art Demonstration And Interview

Master Tan Soh Tin of Singapore demonstrating the Shuang Yang Pei Ho Rou Rouan Chien or Sun Frost White Crane Soft and Gentle Art. Master Tan is the only surviving teacher to have learned the art directly from Grandmaster Ang Lian Huat and therefore the leading authority on the art. All other teachers have learned from him, his students etc. The Shuang Yang art is a soft (internal?) form of the Hokkien (Fukienese) Shaolin White Crane Art. This video shows Master Tan demonstrating the art probably in 1996 in Epsom, England. The sound track is an interview recorded with him in late 2012 in the Nam Yang Mountain Retreat, Thailand. It is noticeable that over the 17 years or so since this video was recorded the way in which Master Tan performs this routine has changed slightly. It is living art and, as the most senior Master, he is constantly refining it. The interview is unscripted and reveals the genuine feelings of a master who has practised this art from the age of 8 to the age of 70! Unusually for a Chinese Kung Fu Master, Master Tan's English is extremely good allowing him to communicate with real clarity. The quality of the video reflects its age but is of genuine historical interest.
