Uppal: The Central government has sanctioned Rs 956 crore to the State government for the construction of a corridor road between Uppal and Narapally. The construction of this corridor will be a coordination project between Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI). Uppal MLA NVSS Prabhakar told The Hans India, “The construction process is likely to start off by January 3 and would take a year to complete. A blue print of the construction was showcased during the meeting in the presence of Town Planning, Water Works Maintenance and Operations, Local Sanitation, Deputy Commissioner of GHMC Uppal Yadagiri Rao, and Zonal Commissioner Gangadhar Reddy.” As of now the GHMC maintenance team identified 250 structures between the route from Uppal and Narapally, who have been asked to vacate the places, as they have been promised the market price for the lands they have, he added. When asked about the benefits people would get after the construction of this corridor, NVSS Prabhakar said, “For the past four years we have been getting reports on three accident cases at an average every year, due to wrong movement of vehicles on the roads.” The movement of small and large scale along this route had been causing acute air pollution among the commuters and the residents in the area, he added. This corridor will felicitate smooth passage for vehicles and commuters and would also reduce the pollution by 50 per cent.
