Built in 1900, the Rotunda, so called Okrąglak or Rondel (pl. saucepan), is a dodecagonal building in the heart of the Plac Nowy (New Square), the Jewish quartier in Kraków. Apart from the historical value, as the building was used as a kosher ritual slaughterhouse and a market, now is commonly used as a meeting point in the very popular district of Kazimierz full of cozy and alternative bars, often with live jazz or blues and good quality craft beer. Mentioning the afterparty street food is vital here, typical Zapiekankas are sold directly from the Rotunda in multiple little vendor stalls. Half of a baguette bread, grilled with mushrooms accompanied with cheese, and many toppings to choose from, starting from popular ham and walking towards pickled cucumbers, spring onion and unbeatable feta cheese.
