The More We Know's video: Sweden s Queen Silvia Celebrates Her 70th Birthday

Sweden's Queen Silvia turns 70 years-old on Monday (December 23) and the event has been marked in Sweden. On Thursday evening (December 19) a tribute performance was given to the Queen at the Oscars Theatre in central Stockholm. A host of artists took part in the performance, marking the Queen's commitment to vulnerable children. Queen Silvia will be celebrating her birthday on Monday in private at Drottningholm Palace near Stockholm with her family. German-born Silvia Sommerlath became Queen when she married Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf in 1976. She was born in Heidelberg in Germany to a German father and Brazilian mother and spent many years in Brazil as a child. She met her future husband at the Munich Olympics in 1972. Together they have three children - Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Madeleine. She is also a grandmother to the crown princess' daughter Princess Estelle. Princess Madeleine is expecting her first child in March.
