Well ever since then my mind has been on getting a decent pair of trail runner shoes for hiking. After doing some research my search is over in the form of the 2019 Altra Timp 1.5s! INTRO Welcome to the channel wording I’ve owned these shoes for a little over a month now and hike around 5 miles a day in them and I’ve gotta say that I absolutely love them! First let’s talk about the Specs! Specs Weight: 11 oz Considered heavy but feel light to me of course compared to boots Heel to Toe Drop: 1.7 mm Very low Heel Height: 30.5 mm Very low Forefront Height: 28.8 mm Very HIGH Cushioning all around is very soft which I love! Flexibility is very stiff which offers protection from rocks With all that being said I’m just the average Joe who hikes occasionally so I’m going to give my thoughts The toebox so roomy and comfortable I’ve always had issues with my toes smashing against the front Used to feel cramped Room to wiggle my toes Cushioning Super soft all around I can feel the cushion especially while on the trail Still plenty of cushion to walk on paved trails Zero-drop I like that these are zero drop I’ve had issues with planter’s in the past and zero drop shoes have always aided me against that One thing you’ll notice with zero drop shoes is that your calves do more of the work and you’ll feel it if you’re new to this type of shoe Protection The bottom and sides are rigid which are great protection from stepping on rocks Traction There’s great grip on these shoes You’ll notice it going up and down hills Be careful on wet wood bridges and rocks Shoes still are slick! Shoelaces - Never come untied They changed the material and design from the previous version and it is great. I don’t even have to double knot Breathable Plenty of ventilation Cons of this Not as insulated as a Boot for cold weather Not water-proof Basically my only 2 Cons for this shoe Price I purchased mine from REI for $130, but I had a $56 rebate that I used I highly recommend becoming a member for the rebate and other deals This is a pricey shoe but you’re getting a great trail-runner shoe for that price Shorty after I purchased these shoes REI had an online sale so keep your eyes open for deals For this being my first pair of trail runner shoes I’m super impressed. I’d highly recommend these Altra Timp’s if you’re a trail runner or are a hiker/backpacker looking for a more comfortable and lighter option than boots. They are well worth the price!
