Gradually, this desire faded away upon realization that that day would never come. Also, there was a news about this locomotive being nominated for conversion to electric. Harsh times! We had also seen some other absurd experiments like ALCO converted to electric, so-called aerodynamic WAP-5s etc., so this one being wasted for another such experiment was quite believable. But thanks to the railfans who initiated to save this loco as heritage and thanks to SWR for acknowledging this request. Then one day, by slip of fate, this Gem from SWR ended up in NR. Sadly, couldn't see enough of this loco as expected, but still the face to face was worth remembering.
