WitchtalkShow's video: Beyond the Broomstick - a conversation with Morgana Sythove

Mention witchcraft, and the images conjured up are more often than not still the mediaeval view of broomsticks, black cats, hobgoblins and halloween. Morgana is a Wiccan High Priestess of high repute and has led a Wiccan coven in Holland for 30 years. Her book intends to debunk these views by offering a glimpse beyond the broomstick to the philosophies of the religion. Basically, she says, the Old Religion, or Wicca, is a nature religion, and like nature itself, the religion adapts and grows, yet retains its higher philosophy. Above all, the Old Religion is a mystery religion. Over the years, Morgana has facilitated a variety of Gardnerian Wiccan groups. She is co-editor of the international and bilingual magazine Wiccan Rede, which was launched in 1979, and co-founder of Silver Circle, a Wiccan network in the Netherlands. Morgana travels extensively giving workshops. She represented the PFI at the World Parliament of Religions in July 2004 in Barcelona, Spain. In cooperation with the National Coordinator for PFI Turkey, she lead a PFI delegation in a cultural visit to Turkey in September 2005. She also gave workshops in Uppsala, Sweden, and Milan, Italy. In 2006 she visited Hungary and Bulgaria and represented PFI at the EU conference Intercultural Dialogue, Best Practices in Brussels, Belgium. In 2007 she started giving Wicca Intensives in Turkey and Hungary, and lectured in France & Germany. In 2008-2009 she gave workshops in Italy, Germany, Poland, Belgium and Slovenia She also gave the first Wicca Intensive in Romania.
