We can be reli I believe if people learned the history – both sacred in the Old Testamant or Torah and Tanakh, the Quran and the new testament are combined with understanding of empirical known history and archaeology and archaeogenetics. These people will realize they have a marvelous shared heritage that should strengthen bonds. The Egyptians occupied Negev – and withdrew around 1200 bc – this is one of the 4 early sites of the Yahweh Cult How does a believer reconcile himself – with the historical fact – that the oldest parts of the bible due originate in tales shared by the Hebrews and what most people would call the Babylonians, but was at that time actually Sumer – the tale of the flood is shared with Sumer – that one name of the Judaeo-Christian Islamic God – called Jehoveh is also known as EL who was prior to Judaism becoming Monotheistic around the time of the destruction of the first temple – and their exile into Babylon. They left for Babylon around 620 BC – before all the old gods were struck out – some of them being assumed by Yahweh – some of them turned into merely alternate addresses of Yahweh – and some of them turned into angels – and others likely into demons! So there were two chiefs of the Gods – El of the canaanites (Isra-El) and Yahweh of the Shasu known to the Egyptians – as the Hebrews integrated into Canaanite Levant with certain ancestors having lived in the Negev and Sinai around 1400 bc – and other “tribes” perhaps from the North or East – following the Canaanite Religion with El as the chief of the gods. The compassion part is to recognize the modern Jews as being descendants of the Levant. And to try again – to introduce them to the region. The compassion is to know that discriminatory laws were placed on them after they had spread throughout the Roman Empire – when the Empire converted to Christianity – and the Roman Empires collapse – improved the legal treatment of Jews – until they were subjected to oppressive discriminatory laws again about 900 years later in the Middle Ages – and driven out of Western Europe – eastwards – where a few hundred years later – they were the victims of pogroms and ethnic violence, and this culminated in the holocaust of WWII Which wiped out more than half of European Ashkenazic Jews. The problem is that this traumatic origin story is misapplied now – to train Israeli children to see themselves living in a world – where at any time these pogroms discriminations and holocausts could return every time – and to propagandize Israeli and many Jewish children – not to see the common heritage but to see an otherness – Amalek is emphasized and not Zydon – the common cradle of Babylonian and Canaanite beliefs – that precede the Jews – and the Muslims – their common heritage – it is like the mistreatment of the Buddhist monasteries and statues by the Taliban (which I think has stopped) a refusal to accept their own history. But how to accept the evolution of the Torah and Tanakh – without losing faith? For me – the old testament is a bedrock – and the prophets -represent the revealed word of God – this bedrock is a sacred history – it is not infallible. It is the result of the standardization of manifold practices especially after the destruction of the Temple I have not made a statement on my youtube channel about Israel and Palestine in quite some time. As an armchair student of biblical history it is extremely sad to see how the Israelis treat their brethren. So I dont so much recognize israels right to exist - as hoping Palestinians will offer Israelis 50%/50 as an act of generosity - but I think forgiving Israels actions is not possible - Israel will need a change like Germany or Japan in 1945 - and demilitarize Israel - while giving it a seat at a table of peace and cooperation
