In this short video I killed one of the last Deer of 2011 for our Group. A beauty 10 point Prairie Whitetail Buck that was around 250 pounds in weight and being a grain fed Deer it sure taste great too. Five of us made the trip out to Saskatchewan after hunting the late season Whitetail Deer in our Province of British Columbia (B.C.): My Uncle Mike drove his truck the approximately 1500 miles each way with his best friend Gary (lifetime family friend of ours) and they came a day earlier to scout out ahead of us. They called to tell us the bad news and say that they thought the year was a bust due to a previously bad Winter which killed off most of the Wild Game. I felt confident in explaining to the guys that we need not worry as Saskatchewan always delivers some sort of hunting adventure and assured them that we would see not only some game but we would infact see the sometimes elusive Whitetails that we were primarily going there for. As it turned out, my insticts were bang on and we had a great trip with all of us taking some pretty decent Bucks all by late morning on the second day of opening for Canadian Resident Hunters. I was reluctant to shoot this Buck as I didn't see that it was a 10 point and thought it was an 8 point because the Deer had a strange set of G2 tines on its rack with one of them being broken. Ian and Marc gave me a hard time and jokingly abused me as I kept saying I didn't think so and was willing to let this Buck walk. They finally convinced me after seeing the Beauty Buck make his departure with a group of 4 Does. As the Buck left you could really see the tall tines and tell he infact had a pretty big body. And so, I decided to go for him. In the end as we were still in the process of aquiring him after the kill, we got the call from Gary and Mike that they had taken their Deer too which meant that we had just taken 5 nice Whitetail Bucks in about 26 hours. Needless to state...we were all happy hunters. Every year has been good to us when we make the long drive out to the Prairie Grasslands for our annual Deer Hunt, and we look forward to next years excursion out there again! You may want to check out the next video coming out after this one, as it has the biggest Whitetail Buck I have ever taken footage of. A real nice Monster Buck! So keep watchin if you are interested.
