Siwa Oasis was incredible, one of my favorite places to go in Egypt, but the wild 48 hours left exhausted and ready for a long train journey to sleep, haha! I should tell you, there is a much quicker and easier way to get to Aswan - via an 1 hour and 20 minute flight that’s roughly the same cost of this train ticket; around $80 US Dollars or about $1,400 Egyptian Pounds - one way. But, we figure the train also saves us the cost of a night stay, and two meals. Plus, it’s just a lot more fun. *Also, you can take the same train to Luxor if you don't want to go all the way to Aswan. The overnight sleeper train from Cairo actually stops at Luxor Station first before arriving in Aswan. The overnight sleeper train from Cairo to Aswan is supposed to be a 12-hour journey, but it very often departs late from Cairo and arrives late to Aswan (which is exactly what happened to us). We booked our tickets at the Cairo Train station in-person a few days in advance. There are websites that say you can book online, but honestly, I didn't trust the information. I would rather go to the Cairo Train Station and book the train ticket directly. Overall, the overnight sleeper train from Cairo to Aswan was very relaxing and stress-free. The only advice I would give is to ask around at the Cairo train station before boarding to ensure you are getting on the right train. That's it!
