see more https://www.facebook.com/historyhaunted/ Founded in the early 1880’s, Platoro was a mining town known for its Gold and Silver, which were discovered together near the headwaters of the Conejos River. The 3-story lodge, built in 1945 in this little gold-mining town, is said to be haunted by Little Eva, a teenage prostitute who was shot by the wife of a miner. She is allegedly buried here, under an unmarked concrete slab in a nearby field. Please be mindful that thee field is private property. Henry also haunts the lodge, a man who died in the main lodge of a heart attack in the 1950s. Witnesses have reported shadowy figures as well as bowls, silverware and plates flying off counters and shelves. Also reported have been doors that open and close by themselves, cold spots, missing things that turn up in odd places, fireplaces suddenly lighting up or going out, and the sound of furniture being dragged across the upper floors when no one is up there. “A Quick History of Platoro, Colorado”, a Historic account written by Leland Feitz, recalls tales of mining ventures, saloons, gambling establishments and the wild-west Saturday nights. Platoro obtained its name from the combination of the Spanish words “plata” and “oro” (Gold and Silver). The founders of the town of Platoro never had plans for it to ever become a real city. However, Platoro had a few log saloons, gambling places and even a dance hall. The town also had a post office, barber shop, blacksmith and livery stables. By 1900, the population of Platoro had grown to about 300 - except during the winters when everyone left the town due to the harsh winters.
