Day 10 of my Boundary Waters canoe trip. Although already a day ahead of plan, with heavy weather in the forecast for a few days, I decide to forego my planned layover day on Gillis Lake and move back to Tuscarora Lake where, hopefully, I'd find a better campsite to weather the approaching stormy weather. This would also position us well for our exit after the storm passed. So, Sam and I pack up early and paddle our way across Gillis, Crooked, Owl and, finally, Tuscarora Lake where we do manage to find the awesome island campsite open. I survey the site, set up camp and am treated to a very nice sunset before hitting the hay. At the Tuscarora end of the portage from Owl Lake, I ran into a couple of other solo paddlers including Cary Strandjord, who I'd met previously at an art show.
