A fast-moving fire engulfed about a dozen boats in flames at a Washington state marina Friday (February 21), sending huge plumes of smoke into the air. According to local media reports, the fire broke out on one boat around 4:40pm local (0040 gmt) at the Shelter Bay Marina in La Conner, Washington and quickly spread to other boats. Firefighters armed with hoses from firetrucks and boats worked to douse the flames. The marina's manager told the local affiliate that one dock, which moors a dozen boats, had been destroyed by the fire. There was no word on what caused the fire or whether there were any injuries.
