The rise of OTT platforms in the Entertainment Industry

Art is to express what somebody, somewhere, in some form has or is trying to suppress.

OTT platform since day 1 has engaged the audience like no other in forever. They have got authentic content and superb actors that bring the content to life. Raw, unexplored content is being provided with the sense of connectivity in all these platforms.

In the COVID 19 pandemic, the demand for more distinguished content is being raised by the users of the OTT platforms more than ever. When most of us are confined to the walls of our home, the dependency on these platforms for entertainment has raised ten folds.

It has made the experience of watching movies a delight at the comfort of our homes. Users can stream the movie or series as many times as they like from anywhere across the globe, just good connectivity is all you need.

These platforms believe in equality more than we think of. They have strong female and male actors that stand out in their character. Most of the artists on these platforms are self-made and their acting speaks for them. Unlike the popular belief that people get projects because of their connections or hierarchy, they get because they deserve it.

Also, more and more advertising agencies are making their way to OTT to have a wider and distributed audience across the areas.

The script writers, production houses, distinguished personalities are investing in OTT rather than approaching the era old Bollywood industry. Multiple TV soap dramas are also moving online with the hope of alluring more audiences into their work without any time restraints.

The effect and thrill that streaming services are providing is way higher than the same romantic stories entertainment industry otherwise provides apart from remaking movies every next decade.

Not only fictional content but real-life stories are being told through these platforms beautifully. Be it ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story,’ ‘Delhi Crime,’ ‘The Forgotten Army’ and many more, they have captured the viewer’s heart and helped them truly live the moment.

Remember, Netflix India’s ‘Delhi Crime’ won an award for best drama at International Emmy Awards 2020. An otherwise taboo-bizarre script that no other thought of bringing to life. A story that needed to be explored and told. A story that gives hope.

OTT platforms are changing the entertainment industry by challenging them for more authentic and unseen work. By giving chance to the underrated actors and directors. By taking up taboo topics and helping the audience understand them in a way that is suitable to their mindset. By not getting stuck on one theme or one actor. By not letting anyone become the dada of OTT platforms.
