Firme Rola, 100% Lowrider souldie, crossover Soul ! ...yep we're back on the west coast for another retro celebration of ink art and go go queens.....tonite we're all about the tighten up...played out to the funky crossover soul of The Bamboos. The group were formed in 2000 in Melbourne Australia. In 2004, their single, "Tighten Up" - a jazz tinged take of Archie Bell's original gem - was released by Kenny Dope (Masters at Work) and my old flat mate Keb Darge (Legendary Deep Funk) on their U.S-based imprint Kay-Dee Records. Oddly but appropriately the track is currently enjoying a renaissance on our beloved 'lil brit northern soul scene too...
