Washington DC...Obama's back yard and a city fond of the funkier side of soul, be it the tribal rhythms of it's percussive go go scene, or it's cool laid back Baltimore house vibe. DC was however also home to some classic northern soul sides.. Back in 1968 it was also the proving ground of the El Corols Band and Show, the group who's first side for the local independent label Tiny, produced this frantic 60's funk edged rola - later to be adopted in the 70's by the amphetamine fuelled dancers of the UK's northern soul scene. "Chick Chick" was written by - a then 18 year old - Tiny Barge, Eddie Hicks Jr. and group vocalist Little Whimpy Johnson. But you know me by now folks..so it's time for a contemporary face lift ...LOL
