Flower Joos's video: How To Make A Wire Brick To Create Floral Designs FOAM FREE

CREDIT - this idea was shared by a lovely flower arranging lady who we cannot find again to credit direct ( sorry ), but she shared this idea with the goal of reducing foam usage How to make a wire brick to create floral designs foam free Ingredients - wire cutters, plastic coated garden fencing on a roll, grid style - we used 1.8 cm square wire giving an overall block that is 27 cm long, 12 x 12 cm high and wide. In todays video we show you how you can easily create a wire block frame to hold your flowers when creating designs as an alternative to using foam. We used a roll of garden wire that has 18mm wide squares and we created a block 14 squares long and 6 x 6 at the square end. But - this block has an inner square tube that is the same length but 4 x 4 squares in size. This gives us at least 3 points where the flowers can be supported when inserted , and the standard shape is much better to use than scrunched up wire which can have dense and thin areas - so it’s not consistent. This can be made in any size - just measure your container to see what will fit best. This also works for flowers in deep containers as well as low trays - but there must be some depth of water so each stem has a water source. For uses such as arches this therefore wouldn’t be so good as a water source is needed for the flower to last. But it gives you a reusable, ecological alternative to foam, for work you regularly do - so ideal for church designs, event work, corporate work, and of course for enjoying flowers in your own home!
