Five years since he came to power, under PM Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia didn't have a break from civil wars, ethnic conflicts, a severe economic downturn, over a million and a half civilians and soldiers died, the Tigrai region alone lost hundreds of thousands of lives, a million displaced or escaped to Sudan as refugees, and now he is provoking Eritrea by threatening to occupy its Red Sea port of Asab. The UAE, his close ally, is there to supply him with funds and armaments to protect their investment in Ethiopia and further consolidate their share of control of the region. If war breaks out, there will be a bigger threat to world peace and economic disruption. Internally, Abiy has agitated his battery of pastors and the general population i=on a war footing.
