@Loud bang was heard from a train at North-East Line - 26Dec2011
SINGAPORE: A loud bang was heard coming from a train along the North-East Line at about 7.20pm on Monday. Operator SBS Transit said it was due to a sudden electrical surge on the train heading towards Punggol. A spokesperson said as a safety precaution, passengers were asked to disembark at Hougang station. This caused a delay of nine minutes for the service towards Punggol. SBS Transit said announcements were made to commuters and the affected train was sent back to the depot for checks. Commuter Alexander Chng said: "There was loud bang, or something, between Kovan and Hougang station. "The train lights went off but the emergency lights came on. "The train made its way to Hougang station where most people alighted. Some people were screaming but the train seemed to proceed as per normal. And there were no announcements or anything."
