This one hitting a significant milestone of release number ten for the former Roll Deep MC, five years after the label arm was birthed in 2017 with him featuring on the very first release. Seemingly saving his best work to date to celebrate the occasion, with a hard hitting, drill infused, melodic record that sits somewhere between the realms of Grime and Dubstep. Produced by now, Label Manager - Hayz, after working closely with the label and events for the past four years with multiple releases along the way. This time around joining forces with last year's unearthed gem, Josef. A world renowned MC and pioneer in the Grime & Dubstep world. Killa P’s acclaimed for his unique patois style and hard lyrics. Killa became known as one of the UK’s prolific MCs while he was a member of one of the UK’s founding grime crews, Roll Deep. His style and flow led to commercial success and earned him a new generation of fans through his 2008 collaboration with The Bug on the seminal track ‘SKENG’. Fast forward a few years to 2016 where he released the biggest track of the year and arguably the last decade with Sir Spyro, Teddy Bruckshot & Lady Chann on Deep Medi. He had his first release with 1Forty in 2017 and has since has gone on to collaborate with the likes of an array of names across the label fluttering around the full umbrella of genres, with Filthy Gears, NothingNice, Fork And Knife, 9TRANE, Kobe JT and Palizé. Whilst Leeds has had a Grime scene that has been quietly bubbling away for a few years on the MC front, there have been very few 140 producers who come through. Hayz was hellbent on changing that since landing on the 1Forty radar and has established that since his label debut with ‘Hightop’ in September 2019 and the VIP that followed. His debut EP landed on Rapture 4D’s critically acclaimed Plasma Abuse label in 2020, before leading on to what some named as a contender for EP of the year alongside NothingNice and Logan, with the London City Warlord Riko Dan on the lead track, which released on Durkle Disco in February 2021. His most recent was his biggest release to date at the end of the year producing Armour & Roachees ‘Link With Dem’. Josef has been producing for a few years while he’s been studying at university in Leeds. The young versatile producer from Cheltenham had only self released prior to us picking him up in 2021. His first ever release was alongside Paige Eliza, some of whom may now know for her releases alongside Sammy Virji and more recently Flava D on Hospital Records as she continues to elevate through the underground, whilst also producing and selling beats to some of the UK’s breakthrough Drill & Rap artists. Josef released Shining with us in 2021 followed by the VIP on 5 Years Of 1Forty this Summer making this the third time releasing on 1Forty and his first vocal project on the label.
