1finch2finch's video: Ecce Vicit Leo Philips Choir of St Paul s Cathedral

@Ecce Vicit Leo (Philips) — Choir of St Paul's Cathedral
The Choir of St Paul's Cathedral, London, under the direction of John Scott, perform Peter Philip's 'Ecce Vicit Leo de Tribu Juda', a seventeenth-century motet for double choir. The piece, which takes its text from the Book of Revelation, draws on the same triumphant verse (Reelation 5:12) that concludes Handel's Messiah and is often performed during the celebration of Easter. Alleluia. (Revelation 5: 5, 12] [ English Translation: ] Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the book and to loose the seven seals thereof. Alleluia. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. Alleluia. [ Recording available on the disk 'Passiontide at St Paul's' (Hyperion, 1996). ]
