@Who were the "sons of God" in Genesis 6?

Who were the "sons of God" that Genesis 6 speaks of? Which interpretation is right? The "fallen angels" view? The "sons of Seth" view? Or the "despot" view? It's important that we, as much as possible, allow His Word to interpret itself even if where that leads us might end up having some interpretive difficulties. We need to be honest in our interpreting of the text instead of interpreting it in a way that makes sense to us or just accepting what we've been taught.
