For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they represent the process of developing or moving gradually towards a more advanced state of consistent winning thanks to the mixture of a talented young core and some savvy veteran leaders. There’s an abundance of hopefulness and confidence about the future or the successful outcome of sustained success. A large part of the positive vibes coming out of Tampa are centered around their emerging quarterback Jameis Winston who must now translate his raw emotional leadership style and passion into the next step and lead Tampa to the playoffs, something they haven’t accomplished since 2007. As they enter their second season under Dirk Koetter the national spotlight is set to shine on Tampa as the team prepares to be featured in the hit HBO series Hard Knocks on August 8. One major storyline the nation will be compelled to see play out will be how the transition goes for DeSean Jackson who Tampa acquired via free agency to help bolster their speed on offense. They also added Alabama standout O.J. Howard in the draft to help provide some more versatility to the offense. Defensively the Buccaneers are hoping familiarity breeds comfort in the second year of Mike Smith’s defensive scheme. Tampa’s success on the defensive side of the ball will largely specifically depend on the development of Noah Spencer Kwon Alexander and whether they can show signs of continued growth from a year ago. Vernon Hargreaves continues to have a solid training camp and offseason as he looks to make amends for all the times he got beat deep last year. Surging to the top of perhaps the most difficult division in all of the NFL won’t be easy however, Tampa does have a strong talent base in order to get this done.
