The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) convenes on Friday, May 10, in New York City to resume the debate on recognising the 'State of Palestine'. The first session of the ongoing debate, the UNGA is anticipated to vote on a resolution endorsing Palestine's eligibility for full membership and urging the Security Council to reconsider its request to become the 149th member of the United Nations. Proposed by the UAE, the draft resolution aims to afford Palestine the rights and privileges necessary for active participation in General Assembly sessions and other UN conferences.
