In his message, In Memory of Her, Dr. Richard Ward tells a story of an unexpected visitor to his parent's home one night when he was babysitting his younger siblings. His teenage plans for the evening are ruined, but her interruption provides an opportunity for him to experience God. He says, “She came to our house next door to the church because she believed that somehow the presence of Christ would be there. She came hoping to encounter the Christ who could meet her in her emptiness and restore her to health and wholeness.” The Rev. Dr. Richard R. Ward is the Fred B. Craddock Professor of Homiletics and Worship at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Okalahoma. Trained in theater, he brings an actor’s skill to his preaching, with an emphasis on the art of the story. Richard is the author of several books and conducts workshops in the art of storytelling.
