Unsung Heroes, Mavericks and Adventurers Interviews with Inspiring People and their Friends An Edited Recording of a Live Audience with Chris Blakey and Friends I have been very fortunate to have met some very inspiring people, visited many memorable places and had interesting and often unique or rare experiences. These people, places and experiences have shaped my life and made me to want to share their stories using digital technologies to inspire future generations to believe in and want to shape the future. Chris Blakey was a school friend at Boston Grammar School and in 1966 we both travelled on a school trip organised by our Russian Teacher “Gert” Tromans. We travelled by train to Moscow, crossing the Berlin Wall into East Germany and our hotel overlooked Red Square. After 5 days in Moscow, we went on to Leningrad (St Petersberg) for another 5 days. It was in a hotel basement here that we watched the 1966 World Cup final. Our journey was completed with a boat trip back to London via Helsinki and Copenhagen. This school trip influenced both our lives and gave us a love of travel and other cultures. In 2019, Chris drove from his home in Corsham to the Rugby World Cup in Tokyo, crossing Siberia and enjoying a great adventure. In this video, Chris is joined by 2 of his "Sputnik" co-pilots - Ilya Zlotnikov (who joined him in Moscow) and Will Leith who took over from Novosibirsk to Chita. The video is suitable for school kids who want to be inspired to become modern day adventurers.
