This version is from the 12-inch single, released in 1989. The original version of "Can You Stand the Rain" can be found on the 1988 New Edition LP _Heart Break_. It was the third single released from the album. Performed by: New Edition -- then composed of Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill, and Ralph Tresvant Written and produced by: James Harris III and Terry Lewis (b.k.a. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis) Additional Production by: Jeff Lorber Remixed by: Louil Silas, Jr. I won the albums (yes, they were vinyl) _ Heart Break _ and _Dont Be Cruel_ during a contest on K97 (WHRK-FM) during the fall of 1988. They are still at my parents' house today. If I can recall correctly, it was part of a promotion of the Al B. Sure/New Edition/Bobby Brown tour that came to Memphis at the time. A friend of mine told me to listen to the cut "Can You Stand the Rain," claiming it would be a hit. I agreed and the rest is history! Enjoy!!!!
