First, a big thank you to all our viewers for helping the 4TT Network pass one million YouTube views. We hope you stick around as we go for our second million! And, please follow us on Facebook where we have original marijuana related news and content updated daily. Weed love you! The marijuana supply is outstripping demand by 300% in the aptly named, Evergreen State. Last summer pot shops in Washington were barely able to stay open because of the weed drought, but in 2015 growers have way more herb than stores can handle. With about 270 weed growers in Washington, but only 85 pot shops in business, marijuana farmer Scott Masengill, told the press that every grower he knows is concerned about their surplus inventory. “I don’t know anybody getting rich,” he said. For example, marijuana farmer, Andrew Seitz sold his first marijuana crop in 2014 for about $21 per gram, but this year he expects to get just $4 per gram for his weed. And, he is not alone - black market sales continue to undercut the prices in legal pot shops and revenues from medical pot are dropping, therefore both growers and storeowners are suffering. However, in the long run, we should see more pot shops being licensed to open, the black market becoming less competitive, and price points reaching a level that makes more sense for everyone. Meanwhile, in the Blue Mountains of Australia, a group of hikers have discovered the weed equivalent of a unicorn. Typically, tokers are used to two main strains of cannabis – Sativa and Indica, and hardcore stoners may also know about the Russian strain Ruderalis, but scientists in Australia have confirmed that a previously unseen cannabis species has been found. According to researchers the most likely explanation is that humans brought hemp seeds to Australia 50,000 years ago when the continent was first populated. Unfortunately, scientists at the University of Sydney only have the one specimen and are offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who can find another. "The only problem is that we don’t have any seeds, we only have one plant. We've exhausted our funding trying to find another like it," researcher Christopher Pool said. So, what do you think, will the marijuana economy in Washington pick back up? Would you like to go to Australia and discover a new strain of weed? Comment below and let us know.
