Mountainstar's video: Dubs Hut Mosedale Cottage Bothy s Birthday Bothy weekend Jan 2018

A Birthday Bothy weekend. (Mine and Mark Birdsey) 10 of us braved the Arctic weather around the Dubs hut Bothy fire on the first night. The 2nd night of out Birthday Bothy weekend things did not go as planned. Deep snow slowed us down, so a 90 min walk took us 3.5hrs. Gareth twisted his knee, so just about made it. We turned up to find several other groups had the same idea, so 36 packed in, with not a bit of floor space left for sleeping on. It snowed continuously on the way back, making it even harder walking through 2 to 3ft snow. Still it turned out not a bad night. It was a stunning walk in, at first in lovely sunshine, then a stunning sunset, finally under the stars and a crescent moon. The stars stayed out all evening. Me and Mark had a surprise Birthday cake (Well done for carrying it in guys) and we all made it, even though it was absolutely knackering.
