A Scotsman Outdoors's video: Goat Fell - Isle of Arran - Hillwalking Scotland

Goat Fell is a Scottish mountain on the Isle of Arran that attracts thousands of visitors each year. At 874m (2,867ft) it is just short of being a Munro* and is classed as a Corbett**. Having travelled from Ardrossan to Brodick via the CalMac ferry (http://www.calmac.co.uk - £7.80 return foot passenger) I walked to the base of Goat Fell which is around 2 miles walk from the ferry terminal. You'll know you're at the right place when you pass the Arran Brewery. The 'tourist' path up Goat Fell runs from Arran Brewery straight to the top and conveniently the same route back to the brewery. The path is quite possibly one of the best maintained paths in Scotland and might be why so many people flock to the hill. Climbing Goat Fell itself is quite a tricky hill, especially near the summit, but is frankly unique in its surface. It is made of rugged peaks pulled from the earth in sharp points along with simply massive naturally formed 'bricks' that look like they should be in a Super Mario level. Once at the top you may be rewarded with amazing views depending on the weather and it took me two trips to get the views but when you do get them... OH WOW! If you get the views then you will not be disappointed at the effort you put in to climb this tricky and steep little hill. A brilliant climb and one that warrants a cold beer at the bottom when you're done. Have you ever climbed Goat Fell?
